Canadian
Photographer Launches Spectacular New Book
July
25, 2007 - Professional Canadian wildlife and nature photographer
John E. Marriott of Canmore, Alberta announces the release of his
new hardcover coffee table book Banff & Lake Louise: Images
of Banff National Park.
Featuring
breathtaking full-colour photographs, Banff & Lake Louise:
Images of Banff National Park is the first high quality
photography book to focus exclusively on the extraordinary natural
beauty found inside Canada’s oldest and most celebrated national
park.
From
wild animals and lesser-known backcountry gems to classics such as
Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, John presents 78 awe-inspiring images
of the park in all seasons and varying moods, vividly portraying one
of the world’s most beautiful areas.
“My goal with the book was to
produce a striking collection of beautiful photography in a very
high-end, richly-designed book that was affordable to both Banff
visitors and locals alike. I really wanted to showcase my unique
style of vivid photography that portrays standard scenes in ways
that make the viewer look twice and wonder to themselves how the
image was taken,” says John.
John
is recognized in Canada equally for both his landscape and
wilderness photography as well as his engaging wildlife images, a
rare combination in a profession where nature photographers are
usually known for just one of the two disciplines.
The
book’s designer, Richard Maruk of Calgary, Alberta, captures
John’s distinctive imagery in a stylish design, featuring a unique
cigar band slipcover with a stunning glossy image of Lake Louise on
it.
The
book includes a hand-crafted map, as well as multi-page chapters on
Banff and the surrounding area, including Lake Louise and the
Icefields Parkway. Each chapter opens with a spectacular image and a
quote from a well-known author or early explorer of the area, adding
appeal to the book as a high-end keepsake.
John
concludes, “I really want the reader to get a taste for just how
incredible a place Banff is and give visitors a gorgeous reminder of
their once-in-a-lifetime vacation to the Rockies. At the same time I
think locals and other Canadians would be proud to display it on
their coffee tables.”
Banff
and Lake Louise: Images of Banff National Park
