Canadian Arctic Photography: Polar Bear on Baffin Bay in Nunavut

A large male polar bear stands to get a better look at us through the pack ice on Baffin Bay on the Arctic Ocean in Nunavut, Canada. These bears are hunted by local Inuit hunters and the Baffin Bay polar bear population alone has more than 100 bears hunted each year! Is that sustainable? Many researchers don't think so, but the Inuit hunters argue that they are seeing more bears than ever (perhaps due to their increasinly broad travels on snow machines).
